Pilar Montenegro began her career as a member of Fresas Con Crema, which was of short duration. In 1989, Pilar was selected to become a member of the Garibaldi (a Mexican group of young men and women, wearing a very free version of the traditional charro costume while singing modern version of traditional songs).
She soon began participating in soap operas (Mexican soap operas), such as Volver a empezar, Marisol and Gotita de Amor.
In 1996, Pilar Montenegro released her first solo album entitled “Son Del Corazon”, which was a real modern hit. In 2001, her second album was released – Desahogo which became her biggest success.
In 2004, Pilar was contacted by Telemundo to sign the title song in the production of El Alma Herida. She was one of the several Telemunto superstars featured at the 2004 Teleumndo fan fest at Universal Studios in L.A., alongside Ana Maria Polo, Mara Croatto, Maria Celeste Arreras, Mauricio Zeilic, Mauricio Salas and many others.
